I'm a little disheartened, if I'm completely honest.
We had two games yesterday.
We started the first game off with an 8-point deficit. We lost our best striker to school and another good striker to vacation. We were sitting ducks. In the second half, we came back from that 8-0 deficit and rallied 5 points. It was nice, and I had a couple of assists, but we still lost.
The second game we should have owned. The team was generally pushy, and one guy kept grabbing at me. He almost got my shinguard in his testicles. I was pissed. I got a few more assists. We ended up losing that game 8-7. Nothing breaks my heart worse than losing to a team that really doesn't deserve it.
I don't have much else to say, except I'm sad, sore and still very tired.
- Mood:a little grumpy.
So my Division Two team won our third game. We are now 2-1-0.
I'm glad we won. It certainly was done no thanks to me.
I don't know what it was, but I was so completely off my game today. In indoor soccer, the field is too small for defense-midfield-offense, so we just have defense/offense. This is fine except I've somehow become that ghostly midfielder.
Anyway. I don't know where I was going with that. Except tonight I sucked. And I bruised the top of my foot and it hurts like a mother-you-know-what.
I hate that I didn't do my best feeling. Oh well; at least we won.
It turns out Fionn makes a decent partner for soccer. He's very fast and agile, so keeping the ball away from him is hard. We ran around outside for a little while on the soccer field. Good times. Shot some goals, did some running. About forty-five minutes worth.
He was just as tired as I was I think.
I started playing league soccer again on January 28, 2007. I have been playing soccer almost six straight months.
I am so pleased with myself. :)
So last night I played pick-up soccer at the Mount Washington UB field. It turns out that there are full-size goals up there all summer long. Awesome. I live walking distance to the field.
Anyway, I really enjoyed this. There was an array of different skilled players ranging from "this is my first time" to a couple Gilman grads to a guy that just really kicked ass on the field.
I even got to try out goalie. Which I sucked at =)
It was a really relaxed and fun environment. I got to try a couple of new moves I'd been working on. And they worked!! That means that I've successfully used them in a "game" situation, and am likely to be fine using them in competitive soccer games. awesome. I'm very excited about that. A lot of the folks I play with on Sundays are super-skilled, so often time I feel like a brute using my force tactics that come so naturally.
I wore my Chelsea jersey, because it makes me feel super powerful. Of course, everyone was like, "Chelsea!?!" and I was like, "YEAH. CHELSEA BABY!!!". So I was not called by my name, but rather Chelsea. I suppose it's better than being called "Arsenal" or "Bayern". haha. Anyway, it seems I have a nickname. Yay! :)
An hour and a half later, I went home before my fiancee disowned me. I convinced him that this was a win-win; I get to play some soccer and he gets to play some Xbox. Of course, he spent the free time setting up a piece of furniture, which I felt badly about. I wanted him to unwind and have some fun! Sigh. He never listens ;)
I wasn't soaked the way I was after the Sunday night games, but I definitely got a good workout. 1.5 hours of running around like a crazy :)
Outdoor !== Indoor. It's a whole 'nother game.
